Here’s a summary of what Barcelona+B has been doing to address the challenge of a more inclusive Barcelona: the journey of the Treballem+B initiative.
Through meetings designed for connection and reflection, we share learnings and foster collaborations between companies and organizations committed to inclusion, who have signed the Treballem+B manifesto.
Through 10 inspiring stories, we demonstrate that good practices in labor inclusion in Barcelona are a reality that can drive the commitment and action of more companies. These testimonials were made possible thanks to the collaboration with the Labor Inclusion Services (SIL) that are part of the Barcelona Labor Inclusion Network, XIB, a network promoted by the Municipal Institute for People with Disabilities (IMPD) of the Barcelona City Council.

On September 30, 2023, we unveiled Diversity, a mural of over 300 m2 in front of Torre Glòries as a statement in favor of diversity inclusion in the workplace. The mural was created by La Casa de Carlota’s neurodiverse team using a collage technique, through fragments of portraits that resulted in a complete face: “the face of diversity”. The action served as a precedent to launch the campaign to gather support for the Treballem+B manifesto.
Between autumn 2022 and the first half of 2023, we developed several participatory workshops using an innovation and collaboration methodology with citizens and experts from the business, academic, social entity, and public administration sectors. These workshops were divided into two phases: an exploration phase and a co-creation phase. Based on the conclusions drawn from this process, the Treballem+B manifesto and various dissemination and awareness activities were developed.
In autumn 2021, the B Citizen Lab was held, a diagnostic activity for the design and construction of Barcelona+B. Here, we identified the influence of companies in providing solutions to the city’s challenges and the importance of fostering collaborations among various actors. We also observed the need to act on Sustainable Development Goal No. 8, on Decent Work and Economic Growth, to respond to one of the greatest concerns of Barcelona’s citizens.
